My Project

I am requesting decodable books for my first grade students. The book sets will include practice reading with short vowels, blends, digraphs, and long vowels. These decodable books include many phonics skills so I can match the books to my students' phonics skills for practice in fluency and accuracy. The students will read these books both in small group and in buddy reading to work on their fluency and reading with expression.

My goal is to build fluent and confident readers since the students will be able to decode these engaging stories with their current phonics skill.

Another goal will be for these students to learn that reading can be fun. The sets of books are called Laugh-A-Lot Decodable Readers because they have fun and engaging stories that will make reading so much fun! I would love for my first graders to read these books and be fluent readers and students that love to read.

My first grade students are at many different levels on the phonics continuum. Some of the students will be reading the short vowel Laugh-A-Lot Readers while my other students will be reading long vowels. After reading these funny, engaging decodable readers, I would like for a student to read with a student from another group and share the love of reading since they are so funny!
