My Students
Our school is a public exam school in a large urban district. We are a Title I school with a diverse student population. We stand apart from other schools both within and outside of the city because our students must take four years of Latin beginning in seventh grade until tenth grade. For almost all of my students, it is their first exposure to the Latin language or any foreign language ever. This year, they will learn grammatical structures of English and Latin grammar, along with classical mythology, history, and culture.
My Project
The study of the Latin language is not as popular for young people these days. They think it's just sitting in the classroom and memorizing vocabulary and endings, but it's a lot more. My students will have a greater appreciation for Latin by seeing all the opportunities Latin provides through various Junior Classical events. This printer will allow the Classics Club to create amazing bulletin boards to display all of our students' involvement and accomplishments in the JCl and in Latin. These bulletin boards will promote the study of Latin so that students will join the Classics Club and the JCL and learn to appreciate the Classical World inside and outside the classroom.
