Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

This is my 3rd year teaching and I had the wonderful opportunity to teach 5th grade for the first time this year. The coolest part was that I got to teach the 3rd graders that I had my first year of teaching, AGAIN!

They are an incredible class of individuals and I am so lucky to have been their teacher twice.

SO I wanted to send them off to middle school in style - with a middle school survival kit. Each item has a special meaning to it. For example, smarties so that they remember that they are all smart in colorful ways. My goal is for students to know they are loved as they take a big step to middles school.

In addition, in their last month of school, they have to take 7 standardized test. Each taking 1-2 entire days. I wanted to provide them with snacks that will help motive them so they are focused on their tests and not being hungry!
