This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
So earlier this year, I made a donors choose to move rooms, then was told I wouldn't be moving, so I gave the donors choose supplies to teachers who would move rooms and used some of what I'd gotten to put things back on my walls that I'd taken down. Well, I just got the phone call that I would be moving rooms again. So, I'm asking yet again for your help in making my classroom as inviting as possible for my students.
As teachers, we often do not have the economic resources to move rooms and revamp rooms as often as we are required to, but we all want a space that students feel is inviting, comfortable, and conducive to learning.I moved classrooms last year, and I had spent a pretty penny and a good deal of sweat equity on my classroom, much of it that cannot be recouped (command strips, stick on LED lights, and other things that won't come off of walls clean for reuse), in order to make my classroom an inviting, comfortable space for my students.
In fact, "numerous studies and research consistently show that creating an inviting and positive classroom environment is beneficial for student learning, engagement, and overall academic success" (Ohio State University).
Having an inviting classroom has helped me to create a room students genuinely enjoy being in. I have had a countless number of students ask to just come into my room, or tell me they wanted to take my classes (Creative Writing, AP Lang, and AP Lit) the following year because "this room is vibes, Miss Hittle!"
Help me create another room with "good vibes" next year and ensure that my students have a space that they all feel comfortable and welcomed in!
