Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am writing this proposal for my high school vocal students that participate in our Intermediate and Advanced Choirs. Our high school serves a large urban area and has a high percentage of students that are low-income.
My students are very interested in seeking ways to help and support the choir program. Some of our students cannot afford some of the costs and fees associated with joining our choir classes. We are interested in using every tool at our disposal to help lower the costs that get passed on to our students. We are especially interested in tapping into their creative and artistic talents. Using a laser engraver for fundraising purposes will be a great way to get students to use their creative skills to support the choir program that they love so much.
At our choir concerts my choir students are able to capitalize on the excitement and quality of our performances. Parents are always eager to purchase any kind of choir mementos that will help them remember their son/daughters' participation at these great events. Using a high tech laser engraving tool will greatly improve the quality of merchandise that my students can offer.
As my students participate in this project they will engage in many skills that will help them as they pursue careers and higher education. One of the most important is real life problem solving skills. They will have opportunities to put into practice some of the things that they are learning in school in practical ways. As they put into practice some of the things that they learn in their graphic design, and computer tech classes, they will see how their learning can be applied to real life situations. These kinds of activities help to show them that what takes place in the classroom is important and practical to them and their futures.
In Their Own Words
My name is Eric and I am in my first year of singing in the Male Chorus. We are interested in acquiring a laser engraver. This machine would give us a number of fundraising opportunities, so that we can help pay for tuxedos, dresses, music, equipment, etc.
Our projects will include making school items such as dated Choir and music Christmas ornaments, decorations, key chains, and award plaques for special recognition. We have had a lot of success selling these kinds of items.
Our choir class is filled with talent; not only in singing, but other artistic spheres and in technological aspects as well. I plan to use that talent to help them express creativity and expand their abilities to greater potential. This, in theory, will lead to productive and prosperous education and funds-acquiring programs. As a student I want to do everything possible to help out the choir program. I know that bringing better tools into our classroom will improve our ability to fundraise.
The choir class is fun, undoubtedly. While we participate in the class we get a chance to relax and sing our hearts out. We work hard to put on great performances to entertain the staff, students and parents of the school. Extra funds would allow us to expand that idea. Not only will we, the students, have more opportunities, but the choir class will have more funds to look at a bigger picture when considering what goals the program will be shooting for next.
