Larger Than Life Mural Constructed By Students With Autism
My students need these paper, foam board and glue to build an 11ft x 20ft construction paper mosaic that will not fade, and stand the test of time.

My Students
For Black History Month, my students created a larger than life construction-paper mosaic that is 5.5ft high and 17feet long. The mural depicts Martin Luther King Jr., Barack Obama, Rosa Parks, and Oprah Winfrey. This project not only united 43 students with Autism, but our entire community.
I teach a specialty class called Sensory Arts, which is part of our school's Autism Program in Boston, Massachusetts.
Sensory Arts is a specialty class providing students with Autism Spectrum Disorders with a student-sensory art experience. Students explore the curriculum through hands-on activities that provide students exposure to art through a variety of mediums consisting of different shapes, sizes, colors, consistencies, and textures; all of which designed to meet each individual student'ÃÂs needs. In addition to providing a creative outlet for artistic expression, students also participate in small group activities geared towards developing gross motor skills, fine motor skills, and positive social interaction. I teach 43 students with Autism in grades two through five.
My Project
As previously mentioned, we created an enormous mural for Black History Month using traditional construction paper. Unfortunately, the paper has already started to fade. The paper that we are requesting is acid free, high quality paper that will not fade. This will allow us to enjoy our work for years to come.
This project will help us spread Autism Awareness, and show the country that students with disabilities are capable of accomplishing great feats when given the proper support, and patience.
