My students love art. They are excited to attend class and nothing makes them happier, than to see their work matted and displayed in the hallway display cases.
Students come to my class with a wide variety of understanding and abilities, but they can all be successful in art.
We are an inner city school with many countries and languages represented. Visual art is doable for all of them, because they can express themselves visually, even if they cannot adequately express themselves verbally.
My Project
We are requesting a large paper cutter to replace a worn out one. Students cut paper for drawing and watercolor, illustration board for drawing and painting and Mat Board to give their projects a final border to make them ready for display.
We have many display cases in our hallways and I make sure each child has several art works hanging during the school year.
Students are so proud to show their art work to their friends as well as their families.
Our current paper cutter is very old.
It has been in constant use for many years. The current cutting blade is warped and does not cut paper squarely. If a paper is not cut correctly, it affects the outcome of the project as well as the ability to mat and frame the art work. A new cutter will give us the ability to create quality mats as well as to cut evenly so there is less paper waste and a more professional display.
