Laptops to Expand Learning Opportunities for All Students

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our school is situated within a low-income community and is primarily attended by first-generation Hispanic students. Many of these students do not have the financial resources to obtain up-to-date technologies to supplement their learning. Our next interactive classroom project will focus on aviation, and students will have the opportunity to create paper airplanes of their own to apply their knowledge of motion projectile. To hone research skills, students will investigate the history of aviation, construction of planes, different plane types and models. Working in groups of 3-4, students will design a plane of their own that they predict would fly the farthest and stay the longest in the air. Students will use Excel to create tables, charts, calculate the different characteristics of quadratics and track their creation progress.
Additionally, our classroom is currently equipped with only one MacBook, which must be shared amongst 100 students.
Thus,
I believe that by having three more laptops in our classroom will enhance learning more efficiently so the ratio of number of students to a laptop will be minimized.
