My Students
Having enrolled in their school's debate class, these students are primed to develop advanced research, writing, and communication skills. These debaters enjoy unparalleled support from a school community that is dedicated to making sure all students have the opportunity to participate in competitive debate.
The drive from each student in this debate class is such that they are ready to excel at the highest levels of competition, but a lack of resources holds them back.
Students that have enrolled in the school's debate class in the past have gone on to win their region tournament, but the lack of available computers for everyone in the class has meant that many of the benefits of the activity have been inaccessible to everyone that wants to participate.
My Project
In this project, I've requested three computers. Computers are essential for debaters these days. With the fast retrieval of data, students can quickly call up articles and research in the middle of their debate rounds!
And while computers have lowered in price over recent years, there is still a significant population that can't afford them.
This is particularly true at my school, where many students qualify for free and reduced lunch.
Having computers in our inventory means that students don't need the resources from their families to be prepared for competition. All of our debaters can have the same access, regardless of their background, finances, or other factors.
