I have the incredible privilege of teaching a fantastic group of third grade students at a small, very rural school in Montana. The school I teach at has a very diverse population of energetic students on a Native American reservation.
In my class, only ten percent of my students have access to a computer and Internet access. In an increasingly technological society, it is important that students are proficient in using basic technology pieces. In small schools, like mine, technology use is encouraged but the school often doesn't have the budget to afford those essential and common technologies for the classroom.
Laptop computers would give my students so many valuable educational opportunities. The students would gain valuable technology practice and master basic computer functions. Also, students would be able to use the laptops during literacy centers to practice typing, publishing their writing pieces, and using educational software to master reading, writing, and mathematics skills.
All students deserve the same access to fantastic education with the technologies they need to be successful. Your donation can help give all students that fantastic education that higher income schools often take for granted. Your donation can make a huge difference in the lives of my students and future students to come.
