Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My two gifted classrooms are full of amazing, inquisitive kids. The homeroom class consists of 17 third graders and the afternoon group has 27 second graders. Both groups benefit from an enriched curriculum. They love exploring and reading about a variety of topics. As their ELA teacher, I love encouraging their inquisitive nature, while honing reading, writing, and research skills.

Our school is located in Florida.

Many of our students come from underprivileged homes. I want to make sure all of my students have the necessary resources to be successful students.

My Project

I have a classroom full of inquisitive second and third grade gifted students. In order to meet individual educational needs, I utilize technology for assistance. Students use programs, take tests, and conduct research at our school's computer lab. We are scheduled one hour a week in the lab, but often times there are not enough working computers for all students.

Presently, there are no student computers in the classroom.

These 5 new laptops would allow us to have technology in our classroom at all times. Students could use laptops to access reading programs that are tailored to meet their needs. Technology could also help students conduct research and work on individual enrichment projects.
