I teach in a dual-immersion program in a Title I school. My students spend half of their day in English class with me and half of their day in Spanish class. Because of the structure of the program, my students are used to a fast-paced, highly-engaged environment. Although many of them are disadvantaged at home, at school we work together to create a safe, fun learning environment. My students love coming to school; it is often the best part of their day!
My Project
Because of the limited resources available to my students, many of them only see a computer once every other week. By building a small classroom lab, my students will be able to have daily use of computers. They will be able to play games to enhance their math and science skills, type and edit their writing, and learn basic research skills. I will be able to have my English Language Learners use the wonderful software that is available to help them learn English quickly. Having computers in my classroom instead of just in the school lab will greatly enrich our learning environment.
