Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students I work with require support in the form of speech-language therapy in order to make academic progress. Together, we work on all aspects of language including our speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. In speech-language therapy, my students learn strategies for accessing the curriculum, as well as building the confidence to reach their full academic potential.

My goal is to help my students become confident and effective communicators so that they can live and function independently.

Being able to express oneself verbally and in writing, is an invaluable lifelong skill that allows us to share our thoughts, emotions and dreams. All of my students have so much to say and I am there to help them do it!

My Project

My students benefit from using technology to communicate their thoughts and ideas. As twenty-first century learners, technological proficiency is a must for all careers and academic pursuits. The use of applications like Google Docs and Google Slides allows students to represent their learning in unique ways. Through the use of the Internet, students can engage in self-directed learning to expand their knowledge base and increase their ability to access the curriculum.

These laptops will allow me to design individualized materials to support my students' learning, while also helping them develop skills needed for their future.

Helping students develop these skills now, gives them a foundation on which to build as they progress in their academic and occupational careers.
