My Students

I work at a Title I school. Working in an inner city can have some challenges. More than 95% of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch. We provide free breakfast and lunch to our students. I have 44 students combined between my two classes. I teach the lowest 25% of our students and many of these students are English Language Learners or are a part of the Exceptional Education program.

I am committed to fostering high expectations, promoting growth mindset and to achieving equity and excellence in a safe and nurturing environment.

Like many schools, we have budgetary constraints and are in need of many supplies to provide for our students. Although we receive some money for supplies, it is usually not enough to purchase some of the necessary materials we need to give them hands on, individualized learning experiences. These eager students deserve to have all of the proper materials they need to learn and grow.

My Project

The use of these five laptops will ensure that my students will be able to utilize mandated computer intervention programs, such as iReady which is tailored to bridge educational gaps in individual students based on their identified strengths and weaknesses. The headphones will provide them with more focus and attention as most children are growing up in a world that is steeped in technology. In addition to iReady, Reflex Math, Prodigy, Zearn and IXL are a few of the other many website resources that my students are missing out on by not having consistent computer accessibility in school and at home.

This project will ensure that all my students have access to their 1-to-1 differentiated learning experience, which will enable them to strengthen their learning deficiencies and achieve academic success.
