Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The Entrepreneurship Program at our school includes a challenging curriculum based on the Arizona State workplace skills standards, the National Council on Economic Education standards as well as 8th grade social studies, English language arts and math standards.
Students will learn about macroeconomics, personal finance, workplace communication, and entrepreneurship.
They will also have an opportunity for career exploration as well as to investigate the many options open to them post-high school.
We will discuss goal setting, money management and budgeting. We will practice many of the skills that they will use daily in their future lives to help them make the best decisions.
My Project
Having access to 5 laptop computers can make a huge difference in the classroom. In my Business Technology and Personal Finance/Econ classes, it is the difference between reading about the stock market and actually being able to engage with the NYSE through a simulated trading dashboard. Rather than wondering about the latest trends in business, the students can read current news articles from around the world.
My Business Technology and Personal Finance/Econ classes are the first step towards creating students who are ready for the jobs of tomorrow – either by gaining the skills they need for an existing job or creating the jobs of the future.
The future revolves around technology. My middle school students are digital natives and they learn well through interactive technology. I hope you will help us reach our goal.
