My students are low-income and my school is 100% free lunch. We are also a Trauma-Informed School. This means most of the students I serve have experienced some form of trauma. School is the only safe place for a lot of them. School provides more than an opportunity for learning and friendships, but also provides food, health care, and other support such as counseling.
Distance learning has been hard for many students and has brought an additional focus to problems underserved students face in education.
Due to the outbreak and possible re-occurrence of COVID-19, my school will be doing Blended Learning next year. Blended Learning is where some students are learning remotely while other students are at school. To teach more successfully next year with the new schedule and teaching styles, I would like to record myself teaching lessons and holding Google Meets while at school so that everyone can be in class together. I need a laptop for the camera and to do some of the virtual programs you need two devices in order to make Blended Learning successful.
