My students need a laptop with a case and mouse to use as a literacy based language center. Students learn to inference, analyze and make conclusions about books while improving their language skills and comprehension skills.
My students are from a rural, low-income/high poverty school district. My class consists of students in grades Kindergarten-5th grade. Our student population is very diverse. My students are bright, inquisitive, and enjoy hands-on activities. These students are growing and learning in an environment that is embracing new technology and strategies. They are part of a small, tightly knit community where teachers and parents work together to achieve success for their students. My students deserve the best that we can give them.
I am requesting a laptop to use as a literacy based language center. The laptop will be used to target communication and academic goals through online storybooks and language apps . Literacy-based speech and language therapy activities help students meet receptive and expressive language goals, fluency goals, and comprehension goals which are greatly needed in all areas of the school curriculum. Laptops provide interactive therapy tasks as well as data tracking that provides students with visual feedback and motivational tools. I am requesting a laptop because I am a traveling therapist. A laptop would allow me to make the literacy based language center a portable tool that can be used with multiple school sites and students.
