Laptop for Student Presentations

My students need a laptop, where they can save their work and presentations. I have 34 students who share a laptop with me, and sometimes it makes scheduling difficult.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are very motivated given the right support. I want them to develop the confidence to present their work in class using technology. At the end of the year, I want them to become comfortable in using technology, but the challenge is being able to provide the technology that will help them.

My students come from the five boroughs of New York City, with diverse backgrounds.

They are all motivated, and they have a strong support system in the school. Most of them have financial difficulties, but this does not stop them from trying their best in school. Our school is a public high school that caters to 1700 students.

My Project

I would just like to request a laptop for my class, where students are free to download any materials they need for learning. If there is available technology for them to use, I believe that they would be encouraged to shift from traditional presentations, to a more technology based one. Students in my class do a research paper on human disorders, after which, they present their data/findings to the class. Most often they do this through powerpoint presentations, thus the need for technology, a laptop, for them to be able to use. The students learn a great deal on the research presented by their peers. After providing feedback to their classmates, they, then, prepare a poster board, which will be showcased in the school's Science Symposium

They say it takes a village to educate the young.

But, I am not even asking for a village, just a single laptop that my students would be able to use any time they want. It would be amazing for each one of my students to have one, but hopefully starting small will make an impact on my students. For them to be able to use technology in their presentation, will develop their confidence and skill in incorporating more technology in their work.
