Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach at a low socio-economic school where most of my students predominantly speak Spanish. My students are at varying levels of academic ability. Parents do their best to help at home but most of them do not speak the language.
They are striving their hardest to learn as much as they can considering the obstacles they face.
They come to school eager to learn.
Our school is a Title I school with majority of our students receiving free or reduced-price lunch.
My Project
My project will provide a needed laptop for research opportunities in upcoming science and literature connection units. The laptop will be used to show my fourth grade students that science and literacy is everywhere around them. I want my students to be able to learn research skills through hands-on experiences. I want my students to have these experiences and love learning at the same time.
We are a high needs school, and often these kinds of experiences are unavailable due to lack of technology and/or funding.
I hope you can see the importance this project will have on my students' learning.
