My students need a laptop computer and a case to carry out research for our upcoming science literature connection units.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Although our school is Title 1 Renaissance with most students on free and/or reduced price lunch, you would never know it by looking at our achievements. My students have very limited experiences in exploring the world outside of their home and school.
Since most cannot travel, I want to bring the adventure to them and what better way than having a great way to get to the world without leaving the room!
I too would like to expand and engage my students' learning beyond the classroom to include other areas around the world, their home, their lives, and their community.
I am sure if they are given opportunities to learn and have access to technology like other children do that this will help them succeed in school and in life. This project will help students realize that everyone cares about improving our students' academic success.
My Project
My project will provide a needed laptop for research opportunities in our upcoming science-literature connection units. The laptop will be used to show them that science and literacy is everywhere around them. I want my students to be able to learn research skills through hands-on experiences. I want my students to have these experiences and love learning.
We are a high needs school, and often these kinds of experiences are unavailable due to lack of technology and/or funding.
An example of one of our science-literature connection units that are coming up is one where students will research an animal and write a report detailing four main sections; what the animal looks like, where the animal lives, what the animal eats, and other interesting facts about the animal.
