This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are energetic kids with a love of learning. They come from a low-income neighborhood, with parents struggling to pay rent and get food on the table. And yet, they still want to create, read, write, and learn!
During this pandemic, my students are sheltering in place with some basic classroom necessities, and more recently, each received a tablet from a wonderful donation to communicate with me via the internet.
My students are working hard to learn about technology, and at the same time, Math, Reading, Writing, and Science. We have sent home classroom material like crayons, pencils, paper, and books for them to participate in class online. I hope to teach through technology with minimal glitches along the way so that I can help my students catch up with learning.
My Project
During this pandemic, my students have had sporadic schooling and interaction with their classmates through Distance Learning tools. They've borrowed parent phones and tablets to connect with me. Each student received an Apple iPad this month, thanks to generous donors. When they meet with me on the internet, I need to have a compatible MacBook Laptop that enables me to maximize their learning through understanding. This laptop will enhance my ability to work with them, teaching them academics, as well as new technology skills.
A compatible MacBook Laptop with memory to hold lessons and recordings will help me connect with my students any time of day or night.
I can record our class during the day, and record stories after school, so that students who were unable to make our class time will be able to watch the day's lesson when their parents get home from work. A compatible MacBook Laptop will enable me to do this. Thank you.
