This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our old class computer is slower than a snail. We need a new computer that can keep up with my fast paced kindergarten students. This new laptop would help us out immensely.

I have 20 terrific kindergarteners at a Title 1 school in Southern California.

Many of the students enter my kindergarten class without having preschool experience. This makes it quite a challenge throughout the year. I want all of my students to enter first grade at or above grade level and this computer will help me to achieve just that.

My Project

This laptop would not only change my students' lives for the better, but mine as well. It would be a wonderful tutoring tool, as there are so many wonderful apps for Language Arts and Math that I could download and use with them. Also, my district adopted a new assessment program which utilizes laptop computers. HOWEVER, we don't have enough money in our school budget to purchase new laptops. Many of the teachers in grades 1-5 have received them in previous years, but poor old kindergarten is always last on the list. :(

This laptop will not only allow me to conduct those assessments and provide one to one tutoring for my students, but I will also be able to create my annual class movie for my students and their families.

I take many pictures throughout the year and compile them into a fun slideshow for the parents to view at the end of the year. They miss so many of those special moments that I am lucky enough to be a part of and I want them to experience those same moments.
