Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are amazing! They try hard and always want to reach their full potential. However, the resources in our school can be scarce. Many of my students are far below grade level and need added support and resources in order to reach grade level standards.
My classroom is diverse.
As an ICT (Integrated Co-Teaching) class, we have students of varying ability levels who require diverse instruction and varied materials to meet their individual needs. Teachers are given a very limited amount of money to purchase materials for the classroom. Unfortunately, this doesn't come close to covering what our classroom really needs.
My Project
I am lucky enough to have a SMARTboard in my classroom. However, recently the interactive components of the board stopped working. I am able to use it to project, but can no longer write and click directly on the board. Unfortunately, my school can not afford to replace technology at this time and the equipment is no longer under warranty.
I am requesting a touch screen computer so that I can replace the lost function of the SMARTboard.
With this computer I will be able to write directly onto documents on the computer and project my notes to the students. I will also be able to have students come up to the laptop to model their mathematical thinking for other students to see.
My class has been at a loss since the SMARTboard stopped working correctly. The students are frustrated that they can not come up to the board and write directly on problems and texts. Your donation to this project will allow my students the opportunity to make their learning interactive again.
