Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach 1st grade in a charter school that embodies an arts education curriculum. I have 23 students that come from over 4 different continents. Each and every day is an amazing interaction and learning experience. The progression since September is evident, however, due to limited financial resources computers are not readily available.
The classroom I work in is composed of children from a low socio-economic population. There are many students with special education needs. The children come from diverse backgrounds and some are limited in the english language.
By having a computer in the classroom my children will be able to explore many avenues of learning. I also will be able to provide the students with a constant resource for learning centers within my classroom. In the next social studies unit we are discovering the exploration of the United States. With use of a laptop, my class will be able to search the Internet for information surrounding this exciting unit. In our science curriculum there is an upcoming unit on the solar system. The accessibility of a laptop will give my English Language Learners(ELL) a visual learning aid.
With your help my students will have the equal opportunity to be a part of a modern learning environment. This will provide them with a foundation for their education. The use of computer will stimulate their enthusiasm of the world around them.
