Advanced planning is needed in order to reach every goal in learning. Teaching dance to different skill levels can be challenging yet fulfilling experience, every time I see my students having fun while learning.
Having a laptop can significantly enhance dance classes, especially in online settings, by providing flexibility, accessibility, and control over learning through features like video playback, pausing, and rewinding, allowing for personalized learning at one's own pace.
Laptops allow students to access dance classes from anywhere with an internet connection, making learning more accessible and flexible for those with busy schedules or geographical limitations. In addition, students can use laptops to review videos of dance techniques and choreography, reinforcing what they learned in class and improving their understanding. It can also help students develop digital skills and engage in reflective practice, such as analyzing their own performance or creating their own dance videos.
Laptops can facilitate student-led creation, collection, and critique of dance videos, fostering a more collaborative and student-centered approach to dance training. Students can also compose dance works that convey meaning and intent. Lastly, students will apply critical analysis to new dance works, reconstructions, and masterpieces.
