My Students
I teach fifth grade reading in one of the best rural schools in Oklahoma! My students are a diverse group with varied levels of learning. Our classroom is a space where students enjoy coming to learn. We are a Title I school with the majority of our students receiving free lunches.
These students have huge hearts and love to learn in non-traditional ways, such as room transformations, integrating the arts into our lessons, and project-based learning.
My students have curiosity, creativity, compassion, and positive attitudes. They are truly amazing people. My school is wonderfully supportive of the active hands-on learning that we do in our classroom. I couldn't ask for a better learning environment for these students. We are truly a community!
My Project
A laptop in our classroom will give my students a chance to use technology on a daily basis as they research, read, and learn to code!
We are in dire need of technology in our classroom!
My students need to have a means to learn to code, do research, and explore the world. They are now required to take state assessments online, but many still struggle with basic keyboarding due to lack of resources. At this time, we only have access to technology for less than an hour per week! My students need more hands on experience to be able to be successful.
This laptop will play many roles in my students’ education! Having a laptop in my classroom will give my students an opportunity to access math programs to reinforce skills, and reading activities to strengthen understanding. My students will also use the laptop to conduct research and create presentations.
