This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My Denver students come to school every day ready to learn! We read the Magic Treehouse books and the children dramatize the stories with props they have made themselves. Our classroom is filled with joy, laughter, and active learning every day. This is a vital year for them to grow academically and be ready for the following years of school. It is important that they are excited about learning and feel important in school. My students inspire me with their grit, resilience, and perseverance.

My Project

Lap desks will allow my students to optimize their time on the carpet collaborating with peers and improving their writing skills. Right now, we waste so much time passing out whiteboards, markers, and erasers and that time could be used more beneficially if all of their materials were in one place.

Kindergarten is a vital year for making sure that students are on track for success.

These desks will help us spend more time on academic growth and improving early literacy skills. Giving each student something that is theirs gives them higher motivation to learn and retain information. They will also gain responsibility in taking care of something. I am excited for the growth I will see with these lap desks!
