Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students, all from South and Central America, make everyday a great day to be a teacher! I teach recently arrived English Learners with diverse family and educational backgrounds.

Each student is excited about this new adventure in virtual learning and exploring their new community.

They enjoy singing songs, playing language games, writing graphic novels, and sharing their new adventures with their friends and family in Spanish and English.

I get excited seeing their family and friends' gleeful expression as they start to communicate in English. Although my students will be taught virtually this year, every attempt will be made to expose them to meaningful and equitable learning experiences.

My Project

My students will benefit from receiving high quality, technology-based instruction for language acquisition. They will learn by online group work as they watch me model instruction in real-time, individual virtual sessions for 1:1 support, and creating e:books to support literacy skills.

They will benefit from high quality video lessons that are modeled to increase speaking, listening, reading, and writing instruction.

This will include having a dedicated teacher desktop with a large screen in order to accommodate quality visuals for language learning.

We will also use this equipment for teaching and learning when face to face instruction resumes. All items selected will be used for the purpose of online and in person learning.
