My students need vocabulary games, Magnetic Language Rods Kit, Vocabulary Folder Game Libraries K-3 and Positional Words Resource Box, to help build their language skills.
My students come from many different families and backgrounds. My school is one of the few within our district that does not receive Title I funding which leaves us with less materials than some of our fellow colleagues in other nearby elementary schools. We often have to purchase materials ourselves as there is limited funding for supplies.
My students have many different needs as many of them receive speech and language services due to having an IEP for special education services.
My students need many ways to access vocabulary and language whether it be tactile, visual, auditorily, or a combination of them all. Having a variety of materials will assist them in learning alongside of their peers.
My Project
My students need vocabulary games, Magnetic Language Rods Kit, Vocabulary Folder Game Libraries K-3 and Positional Words Resource Box, to help build their language skills. My students often need hands-on materials in order to make connections between words and their meanings. These materials will assist my students across grade level and skill level to build important language and vocabulary skills that will help them access their grade level curriculum.
My students love to complete activities that do not include pencil and paper.
Any time I can give them hands-on activities the children enthusiastically participate and enjoy coming to speech! Although the students are just playing a "game" they are working on so many different aspects of language. From understanding what is being asked of them, to expressing their responses, to learning how to take turns and share with their peers. Creating a positive environment where they can learn but also build many skills at once is extremely important at this young age. The games and magnetic rods will be a fun way to spice up a lesson and make learning vocabulary more interactive.
