Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
A child's experience in preschool sets the foundation for their educational journey! They are energetic learners, with a love for exploring and laughter.
We teach an Early Childhood Developmentally Delayed Preschool Program.
Our students are 3 to 5 years old, who are experiencing delays in the areas of language, social, motor, or at-risk due to a medical condition.
We work as a team with our families and community to ensure the best learning environment possible.
"Play is the work of Childhood".
My Project
Research has shown a child needs to hear a word 500 times before they attempt to use it. This means, we need to be talking with our children all day long. Building a language rich environment is about using every opportunity to use speech and language, to interact, to share a focus, to talk, to take turns.
Play is absolutely vital to a child’s healthy development.
A child’s exposure to play provides physical, intellectual, emotional and social development. Some research shows that up to 75% of brain development happens after birth, and the early years of a child’s life are the foundation for healthy growth and development.
Playtime offers structure to open-ended questions, allowing reciprocation in a child’s language development.
