Language and Literacy: Assessment Tools and Therapy Library

My Students

My students are friendly, hard-working, and inspiring! They are exceptional elementary students working hard to communicate clearly, efficiently, and with confidence.

Whether they need my specialized instruction for speech sound production, language comprehension, expressive language, social skills, or speech fluency, this grant will help my students learn to communicate better in the classroom as well as at home and in our community.

My caseload includes children with autism, language delays, articulation/phonology delays, apraxia of speech, stuttering, developmental delays, learning disabilities, and cognitive delays. With such a vast array of important needs to focus on, my goal is to serve each and every one of them to the best of my ability which requires organization, focus, and materials!

My Project

My students will learn about holidays, seasons, and many language concepts. By providing speech therapy with literacy-based content (versus worksheets), students transfer learned skills to generalized, everyday tasks much faster!

I've prepared lessons to teach a wide variety of speech and language goals using two books per month, but I don't have access to these books.

I am asking for a variety of titles, including Giraffes Can't Dance, Duck on a Bike, and Crazy Like a Fox. My students work on goals such as speech sound production, understanding vocabulary, using grammar structures, stuttering, and social skills. By using these materials to address students' goals, my students will be able to not only master these important skills in my therapy room, but to be able to transfer these skills to the general education classroom, the playground, at home, and across all settings in the community.
