My Project
These erosion tables will be used mostly by grades 2-5 during second grade unit on landforms, third grade's unit on extreme weather, fourth grade unit on changing land and fifth grades unit on solving ecological problems. Until now I try to show videos of erosion and flash floods, but, nothing can replace seeing it in action.
I would like my students to really grasp the power of water and the damage it can do.
Reading about erosion is ok, but, truly understanding erosion and its effects takes more than just reading. Students would get to work in groups and create their own landscape with soil, sand, and gravel. Then they could watch the affects of water running through it. They will see how sediment travels to new areas, and how different the land will look.
