Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are AWESOME! Not just because they are my students but because they are curious children! Curious children bring me energy and energy brings great teaching! Great teaching is challenging and fun! Challenged daily, my students stretch my teaching abilities to find creative ways to meet my students diverse academic and emotional needs!
My students are special because they love escape rooms!
I have found my curious children engage best when they feel like they are in a game! I try to "gamify" all learning so the students are eager to try to achieve greater than a traditional approach!
Best of all my students are a part of a caring community of learners! We commit to a community circle every Monday and Friday to share our highs and lows from the weekend and during the week! The students are taught how to listen without interrupting and how to share and trust each other! It is a very special part of our class community. It makes our classroom feel like a family instead of just a class. Our fourth grade classroom is a family of learners! I am so grateful to be a small part of our their lives!
My Project
Having a laminator in my classroom allows the teacher to make games specific to students' academic needs. By having the materials laminated, they will last after many uses and be durable for the whole school year!
My students are more engaged when the game they are playing to learn their multiplication facts or fractions cards have their names printed on them along with their favorite animal!
Teacher-made learning games and materials, are effective and save money overall. Since they are child-specific, the personal details added at school mean a lot to the students and encourage them to play (learn)!
