Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have an amazing group of students that come from all walks of life. They are energetic, funny and ready to learn! I teach 26 superstars in a Title I school in New York City.
My students come from countries like Colombia, Mexico, Bangladesh, and Guyana.
I teach students with disabilities, students that have health impairments, and a large population of English language learners. This year is unlike any other because my boys outnumber the girls. With all of their differences, one thing stands true: my students are eager to learn.
My Project
I am requesting items from Lakeshore Learning that will help kick off the 2018 to 2019 school year. This year I will leave kindergarten and go back to first grade, I do however have the opportunity to loop with the majority of my former class. I am requesting timers, sentence strips, flexible seating and magnets to help aid in the education that the students deserve. I have had the opportunity to work with the students in the past so I know that many of them need visual and tactile manipulative. That is why timers are important not only do I have a sand timer but also a timer that beeps when it’s done so that the students can keep track of their assignments and their pace. Just as important as the timers are flexible seating, I have students that have a easy and find it difficult to sit in a seat. Last year, I had a ball chair in the classroom that helped the students who had difficulty remaining seated through most of our lessons. However, that chair was an adult sized chair so I’m requesting two small children ball chairs so that I can accommodate the two students in my class that have difficulty remaining seated.
We use sentence strips very often especially with our objectives and sentence guidance builders.
This school year in science we will be covering a unit on magnets and I would like to add these car magnets to the existing science center. Storage is always an issue in a classroom so I have also requested storage containers for each table group in the classroom. There they can keep their books in a bag, homework folders and textbooks. Thank you for your assistance in helping my students that what they need for the new
