This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a demographic area that is rural, comprised of a low socioeconomic class. They attend a school where 89% of the students have free or reduced lunch. However, despite their hardships, they have the drive to succeed in their education.In addition, despite their economic background, these students strive to become productive, articulate, and responsible citizens. My students are developing as intrinsically motivated and independent learners. They come from a school where the staff is dedicated to working collaboratively as a professional learning community to ensure that all students receive an education that reflects data-driven decisions, current curriculum, and researched based practices.

My Project

I'm requesting the reusable write and wipe pockets, thin whiteboard markers, and erasers because I believe it will help with learning. These tools will help students engage in lessons. The students will be able to share their ideas and it's a quick way for me to spot check which students understood the lesson or not. For example, during a spelling game, students can practice writing their spelling words on their whiteboards. It's quick, accessible, and easy to get to. The students don't have to waste paper or have excuses that they can't write due to a broken pencil. The students can focus on the learning rather than finding something, like a pencil or paper, to show their work.
