Help me give my students Creative labs where students decorate a planet (foam ball) and create an alien. They will then become paleontologists that create cast shell and dinosaur fossils with plaster and experience a dig.

My Project
These labs will bring a more creative twist to content that was covered this year. Students will become paleontologists by digging for fossils and creating casts of different fossils. Students will explore how they evolved, along with making connections to their ancestry. This will help them explore a career path they may not be aware of, as well as give them a hands-on experience in identifying fossils, along with identifying the differences and similarities between them. They will create a dough that they will make fossil impressions in to help them understand how fossils are created over time. Students will also explore our galaxy more and discover how the planet or star of their choice came to be and how its atmosphere is impacted due to its location in our galaxy. They will then create a lifeform that could live on their star or planet. They will have to create a plan to demonstrate how the lifeform survives on the planet, which relates to natural selection. My goals with these labs will be to bolster students' understanding of the content we covered this year. My hopes are for the students to gain experience and skills they can carry over into high school. My students are great critical thinkers, and having these labs can help challenge their minds and make connections to other content areas as well as future content.
