This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

A big topic in biological science is the environment. What affects the environment? How can we reverse climate change? All of which are topics found in my biology, zoology, and environmental science courses.

I wish to create a school garden.

Due to the ever-growing effects the human population has had on the environment, I want the students to do research on the effects of different environmental changes. How would it affect plant growth? Using the 3-way soil analyzer and the infrared thermometer, students can measure the pH, temperature, climate, and other data points. After which, they would attempt to grow the plant indoors, using the hydroponics growing system to control the environment.

I want the students to also test the plant's response in heat and in cold. This is why the ice maker is important. Many science lab experiments require the use of ice. For example, making ice cream and the respiration rate of a goldfish in different temperatures. Having the ice maker will eliminate the need for the teacher to constantly purchase bags of ice for each lab.
