My Project

In a district that is over 60% English learners, it is our duty to ensure these students have access to the same curriculum and lessons as their peers. For newcomers, who have little to no English background, this can be difficult. The goal of this project is to allow our youngest grades to begin labeling their classrooms, and open up new understanding for our most vulnerable students.

Labeling the surroundings helps build understanding and expand vocabulary for English Language Learners.

When it comes to newcomers, building vocabulary is important for their early success. This tool for vocabulary building will help students understand the world of school, and better understand directions. By providing these resources for our youngest grades, it will reach students who are new to school, and establish the language skills for future grades.
