This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am going to teach AP Environmental Science next school year for the second time. My first year teaching the course, I got an idea of what lab materials were required for my classes. In my largest class of 40 students, I was disheartened as I realized there were not enough materials to go around.

With enough lab materials for EcoColumns in AP Environmental Science, all students will be able to experience taking scientific measurements to collect data that will be analyzed at the end of the project.

By providing more materials, each student will gain this skill and will be able to add it to their skillset that will benefit them beyond APES. This will also allow students to spend more time analyzing data whereas in the past they were worried about how much time they were spending using the little amount of tools we had.
