Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
After attending last week's CAST Conference for Texas Science Teachers here in Dallas, I saw so many things my students needed to be in with the best schools in Texas.
My students are actively preparing for lifelong learning, and it is tough for them since English is their second language.
These kids are bright and look forward to each and every new lesson brought to them in every area of the school. They love exploring new topics, actively participating in hands-on experiments, and reading aloud to anyone who will listen!
We are an urban school with low socio-economic status, but that doesn't stop us from giving every minute we have to improve our grades, our goals, and our impact on humanity. Our school is culturally diverse, which makes for a great global learning experience.
We are an accredited dual language school whose classes mandate that English is taught just as much, if not more than Spanish. We fulfill the "whole child" philosophy and make sure each child feels safe and loved. Truly, no child is left behind!
Even with that much going for us, we need your help so we can soar to even greater heights!
My Project
Every once in a while, the one thing every class or household should have runs out. That's our situation right now.
Paper plates, glue, good erasers, and lab coats are necessary for a great Science Lab activity.
Right now, we are out of all of those items. As we go on Winter Break, I am planning our Science Lab activities for next semester and want to make wonderful hands-on lessons, but cannot without these supplies.
The second graders feel like they are real scientists when they put on goggles and especially a lab coat! I want to make sure my students are fully engaged in every lesson and with these supplies, I know they will be!
