My Project
For many of my students, science was once seen as off-limits. Some even believed they weren’t allowed in the lab at all—whether due to safety concerns, misconceptions about their abilities, or simply a lack of access. This has led to years of missed opportunities, where curiosity was stifled, and hands-on learning felt out of reach. But that’s changing. With the right encouragement and inclusive teaching strategies, these students are beginning to thrive in science, engaging deeply with experiments and discovering that they are more than capable of doing real scientific work.
Hands-on learning is especially powerful for students with learning disabilities, helping them grasp abstract concepts, build critical thinking skills, and feel connected to what they’re studying.
However, to maintain a safe and effective lab environment, we need supplies—everything from goggles and gloves to beakers, microscopes, and models. Many of our current resources are outdated or too limited to accommodate the needs of a full class. With your help, we can create an accessible, well-equipped science space, where every student has the opportunity to explore, question, and succeed.
