This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Hi! I teach seventh grade science and absolutely love what I teach! I work at a great middle school in California! I try to teach in ways that inspire my kids to want to keep on learning. School should be engaging, not boring and routine- that is what I think, anyhow.

There were a few labs this year that I was not able to do because my science department lacked the main lab chemicals necessary for them: Methylene blue stain and phenol red. The blue stain is for viewing cell samples and phenol red is used as a carbon dioxide indicator for a respiratory system lab.

I also need iodine to use in a diffusion lab, to teach the concept of semi-permeability which relates to the movement of substances across a cell membrane. If I could have these lab supplies, then I can include these three labs into my lessons next year! I would love to teach these labs and I know the students will like to participate in them. Kids always love the hands-on applications in science, and I know as a kid, I did, too.

With your support I can bring in these lab experiences into my classroom next year. You will help me create a learning environment that will stimulate curiosity and thinking. I thank you so much for your time and consideration!
