My students have the freedom and responsibility to take control of their learning. They complete 2-3 chapters a week along with their labs at their own pace. A full year's course work is completed by the time they are halfway through the year. Our school has a 96% college retention rate, even though 65% of the students at our school qualify for free and reduced lunch.
They learn quickly in a fast-paced environment, are passionate about learning science, and are successful when working independently .
As teachers, we facilitate supplies and provide them with more in depth answers to the more challenging problems and questions. We work with them one on one when they need it and they learn the importance of seeking help while losing the fear to ask questions.
My Project
Our students share a lab with Biology, AP Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Aquatic Science. This one lab area is used to provide lab space for all of these courses. Organization is key to maximize lab efficiency and maintain lab safety.

The cart will organize Aquatic Science supplies, including organism food by types, filters, manuals, water test kits, siphons, water heaters, automatic feeders, medicine, and other supplies.
The new towels will replace broken and torn towels that are no longer in good condition and will be used by all science courses. The hooks and the locker dividers will be used to organize the locker system designed to store lab supplies by course. The lab thermometers will prevent cross contamination due to sharing of thermometers across contents. Chemistry and Biology will keep their own set and will not longer need to share with Aquatics.
Finally the storage containers will group all materials by content and organize each lab set up to make transition more seamless. Because all courses are happening simultaneously, organization is vital to maintaining efficiency for lab safety.
