My students need a coffee maker and supplies to participate in a weekly "Koffee Kart" program. Students will take orders and deliver cups of happiness to our hard working school staff while practicing social skills.
I am a school counselor in a low-income, high-poverty school district, with an increasing rate of homeless families accessing support services. More and more, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite this, school is their safe haven. It is a place where they come to learn both academic and soft skills to carry with them in life.
An increasing number of my students have parents/guardians who are incarcerated or in rehab and many experience food insecurity, homelessness, or lack of adequate medical care.
In addition, many carry multiple diagnoses and find a traditional classroom challenging. My hope is to offer options and support for students to achieve goals related to academics, social-emotional learning, self-esteem, and behavior regulation. My students and I thank you.
My Project
This year we will be rolling out some new behavior/academic incentives for our student body. One of the new programs is the "Koffee Kindness Kart". My students need a coffee maker, coffee and other supplies to make this program happen.
Select students will be responsible for maintaining inventory of the Koffee Kindness cart, while others will be responsible for taking orders or delivering cups of happiness (coffee) to school staff.
The goal of this program is to encourage students to use appropriate behavioral and social skills while working on vocational skills in the area of hospitality. Added bonus, school staff will enjoy the interaction with the students and a nice cup of coffee!
