This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a math teacher that ensures that the math curriculum is taught to its fullest but without neglecting the biggest need of most of my students which is language development . I service 60 students in total and 65% of them are English Language Learners and need help in developing their listening and speaking skills in their second language.

By having our own classroom set of headphones and mice, my students will be able to do practice activities that will strengthen their listening and speaking skills in English.

They will be able to access TELPAS exams from previous years that will give them an opportunity to practice in the format of their state assessment. Them having access to the microphone means that they can answer questions that need to be answered orally to practice the speaking domain. I plan to incorporate a speaking component into my math exit tickets if headphones are available on a daily basis. The notebooks and pencils also sought through this donation will be used to script and take notes as my English language learners do their language development activities.

Helping my students become proficient in English is a priority for me as a teacher. Please help my students become proficient in English so that they can strive to become proficient in their core contents.
