My students need 41 eye-catching descriptive books to help them obtain more information as we develop our researching skills.

My Students
Kids love to read about real people, places, and events. Nonfiction books present real information in engaging and interesting ways. However, most kids read a lot more fiction than nonfiction because they find the books more interesting and the illustrations more captivating.
The students in my classroom are as diverse in academic levels as they are in culture.
Our Title 1, inner-city school is "home" to almost 1200 students with a multitude of ethnicities. There are over 30 languages spoken in our school. These 30 first graders are eager to learn every day!
My Project
Gail Gibbons does an amazing job of presenting information on a wide variety of topics in a way that is not only informative and user friendly, but the illustrations are captivating and keep the students coming back for more.
Our district has recently adopted the Common Core Standards and these books will be perfect to incorporate into instruction in reading, writing, science and social studies. The wide range of topics will fit nicely into our curriculum and make a wonderful addition to our whole group, small group and individual researching, topic expansion, and book studies.
My students love reading about real life, but some of the books in our library are dated and the pictures aren't always fascinating.
For that reason, the children have trouble keeping their interest. Please help these future researchers keep their interest level soaring with these beautiful, highly engaging books!
