My Project
I teach 12th grade African American History. My scholars are resilient learners. They are eager to understand the world around them but need the resources to achieve. My goal is to give my scholars exposure to issues that impact them.
I teach in a way, that challenges my scholars in different areas of their learning.
We are learning about segregation, and I wanted to use this novel to show how segregation shows up in the community that we are in. I want my scholars to have a concrete understanding, that segregation is not just a historical term of the past but an issue that has created a system of inequalities. Many of my scholars live in the community that the book is focused on, and I believe it would be amazing to show them history from a relevant point of view.
