This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Not all children learn in the same way. Many of my special needs students are auditory learners. They process and retain information better when it is orally presented to them. Unfortunately, we lack the proper resources to allow students to use audio resources in the classroom.
I am currently a middle school grade English Language Arts teacher for special education students.
I teach in a high needs, New York City middle school. The focus of my classroom is to create lifelong learners. My students don't only have special needs, but they are English Language Learners and have very diverse needs due to their disabilities.
My classroom would benefit from earbuds to allow my auditory learners use resources such as audio books and Internet resources to receive information orally.
My Project
With receiving these earbuds, my students would be able to work independently, at their own pace. They would be able to make use of valuable resources in order to meet their learning needs. Students would be able to listen to audiobooks, use Internet resources, and other varying tools to ensure all of their learning needs are met.
Since not all students retain information by looking at charts and reading books independently, these earbuds would allow for all students to reach their learning goals.
My students would benefit greatly from the use of these earbuds.
They will allow students to learn via their ideal learning style and also work at their own pace. Students this year and in years to come would benefit from this resource.
