Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students brighten my every day! I walk down the hallways and get smiles, hugs, and high fives every day. Many of the students I work with are English language learners. They are so smart, and learn English very quickly! They have such big hearts, often taking the time to teach me in Spanish.

I primarily work with social-emotional instruction.

Again, the students I work with amaze me EVERY DAY! I have preschoolers and elementary students who have dealt with more social-emotional strife than I have had to deal with, even into adulthood! They are so resilient! They don't complain or use their circumstances as an excuse. The come to me with great enthusiasm and expectation, anxious to learn new things.

My Project

Students who struggle with emotional regulation will get their watch when they arrive to school and wear their watch throughout the school day. These watches will help my students to recognize how their feelings feel inside of their bodies. They will recognize when their feelings are getting too big, with the help of the watch. I use zones of regulation calming strategies and tools as well as breathing apps and mindfulness opportunities with my students. This watch will allow students to see when they need to use a calming tool or strategy to regain their calm and access the curriculum throughout the day.
