Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My 46 incredible 4th graders come from different backgrounds and have many different learning styles. I teach at a school with over 60% free and reduced-price lunch. Unfortunately, this means that many parents do not have finances to provide the resources that students need.
They are a group of sweet and strong-minded individuals, who deserve the best.
Some of my students have found my classroom as a place they can feel safe and learn after they have had to leave their schools back home because of Hurricane Maria. My students are critical thinkers who love to explore and be hands-on. They love activities that will get them out of their seats and work in cooperative learning groups. With the budget being tight, I would like for them to have many hands-on experiences and technology materials.
My students come to school every day and overcome obstacles and work their hardest to succeed in the classroom. My classroom is a place where I make sure to make all students feel comfortable being themselves and challenge themselves.
My Project
The resources I am requesting will provide my students with ways to actively stay engaged and develop their math skills. The multiplication materials I have requested will help my students challenge themselves and become fluent with their multiplication facts. They will be able to use different hands-on activities that will help them achieve the mastering of these facts. Every child learns differently, therefore with different materials to teach them their facts will help them achieve at their own pace. This is crucial in 4th grade since the standards require them to know their multiplication facts in order to continue to grow and learn the required standards. Daily use through the Chromebook of different math applications, games and learning videos will help the differentiated levels of students in my room. The Chromebook will help my students explore new topics and learn important skills to help them grow as individuals. Your generous donations towards my project will quickly help my students become independent and critical thinkers.
